GlobalPort came back roaring, with the golden boy Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle leading a 12-3 run that pulled them within one, 26-25. The Batang Pier finally took the lead, 33-32, on a Pringle fastbreak layup and held on to a 41-36 halftime lead after Jay Washington buried a triple at the second quarter buzzer. GlobalPort led as many as seven but Ginebra rallied to tie the game at 51-all. Caguioa then took over in the fourth quarter, making two straight baskets including a post-up off a feed from big man Slaughter in what looked like a reversal of roles in a 9-2 run punctuated by a Slaughter jam. The Gin Kings were then up by 11, 72-61, with still over four minutes left but GlobalPort couldn’t mount a comeback anymore as the Batang Pier struggled to get their offensive game going. Washington made 18 markers for GlobalPort (3-3) which got 13 from Pringle and only 10 from Romeo, who only made two of his 10 shots from the field as they suffered their second straight loss.
